Description

Peony is a perennial plant about ¾ m tall. It is found in deciduous and mixed forests in southern Europe up to the southern part of the Alps, its full-flowered forms are grown in gardens and parks. It is a traditional plant used for support purposes, for which the flower and root are developed. The flower contains anthocyanin dyes (paeonidin), flavonoids and tannins, the root contains the alkaloid peregrinin, essential oil, tannins, glutamine, organic acids and minerals.
A tincture prepared from both the flowers and the root has a beneficial effect on the nervous system. It supports the psychological and physical state of the female organism, facilitates the course of menopause.
