Description
Food supplement.
The source of carnitine is mainly meat and dairy products. However, carnitine is also produced endogenously. The human body produces carnitine from the essential amino acids methionine and lysine. Its synthesis takes place in the liver and kidneys, where its content is approximately 1.6% of the total content in the body. Approximately 98% of carnitine is found in skeletal and cardiac muscle. L-carnitine plays an important role in the oxidation and burning of fats in the body and their conversion into energy.
Occurrence of the amino acid carnitine in the human body?
The human body contains about 20-25 g of L-carnitine. Organs and cells with high energy demands - heart, liver, muscles, immune system cells, kidneys, brain, nerves, sperm - have very high levels of L-carnitine and without sufficient supply, their function cannot be sufficient.
